Dutch Dare #29: a sketch

I hope you all had a wonderfull christmas and lots and lots of presents.
On christmas eve we went to my parents house and together with my sister, her hubby and 2 daughters we had our family christmas.
Poor Ron got really sick that night and spend most of the day feeling very very poorly. But he had to hang in there because I had to work.
Yesterday we went to Ron's parents and had a great time with lots of small presents and a delicious dinner.
With only new year on the agenda, things almost will turn to normal.
I hope to be a better blogger next year, because the last few weeks I didn't had the time to stop by all the blogs I love to read and watch.
I'm also 2 days late with my card for the Dutch Dare Challenge.
But, better late than never.
This week we have a sketch for you to follow, and this challenge stays open for 2 weeks. We all are taking a little break and our next challenge will be posted on January 8 2009.

Stamp: Bella stamps

All the gorgeous Christmascards I received

Thank you all my sweet friends for sending me all those gorgeous christmas cards.
I made a slideshow with all of them, for everyone to admire.

Sketch # 12 at JCBC

Remember I told you about the christmas dinner at my girls school last Thursday?
I told you about the many different types of food and getting sick... quess who got sick that night.... Britt.
The poor little girl couldn't stop throwing up. I ended up sleeping in her bed, helping her when she had to throw up.
But I doubt if it was the christmas dinner that made her sick, because Sundaymorning it was me who had to run to the bathroom several times and Sunday night Ruby decided it was a great time to get rid of her pizza.
So we are one happy sick family walking around in our PJ's for 2 days now.
That's why I'm late with my post for the christmas and birthday cards challenge.
This weeks sketch is from Rheannon and it's a great one to work with.
Because I didn't feel well the last couple of days I only managed to make one card.

Card Details
Papers: Cardstock - Bazzill, DP - Basic Grey
Stamp: Magnolia - Pink Ribbon Collection
Technique: Pro-Markers, Martha Stewart Punch, Cuttlebug
Embellishments: Flower - Prima, red hearts - gift from Linda, ribbon and button from stash.

Thanks for stoping by,
xoxo Karin

Dutch Dare Challenge 328: Use a Charm

With one week before christmas I'm not stressed.
OK, all christmas cards are gone, decorations are finished, there's food for a complete army, but when it comes to buying the presents it's a disaster.
Wanted to do all the christmasshopping this morning, but it turned out a little different. There wasn't a parkingspot near the shops (I think everybody is doing their christmasshopping today). Had to drive circles for 30 minutes before someone finally left. It wasn't really close, but it is better than parking the car at home and go on my bike (don't have to much storing space on my bike).
Then I went from shop to shop ending up with only a third of all the things I wanted to buy. So much for speed shopping. Have to go into the city tomorrowmorning, because I don't want to take the girls with me.
When they come along we always end up at the toystore and with their pretty smiles and compliments about how sweet mum is they always walk out with something new. And when they have their new toys they think shopping is over and want to go home.
So tomorrow the second (and hopefully last) round of speed shopping.
Enough about Christmas, presents and all the stress that goes with it, and on to this weeks challenge on the Dutch Dare.
This week we want you to use a Charm somewhere on your card.

I made a little Christmas gift box, which is on it's way to a very sweet little girl in England.

I'm of to prepare some chickenwings for Ruby and Britt's Christmas dinner at school tonight. they've asked the parents to prepare all kind of yummie things for this dinner. I did read the list of everything that is going to be served tonight, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed the girls won't get sick tonight.

There's so much and there are some combinations that make me sick just reading about it (meatballs - chickenwings - whipped cream - icecream, peanutbutter etc).

I hope they will have lots of fun and when they are finished with their dinner we are all going to sing a lot of christmas songs outside the school.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Candle Gift Set

With only 1 1/2 week before christmas I still haven't finished all my christmas cards.
Time is really running out and because I don't want to be completely stressed out by the time it's christmas I bought a some standard christmas cards.
I made a selection of who gets a handmade card and who get's the standard one.
And because there's one less stresspoint I had the time to make a gorgeous
Candle Gift Set.
This one is a Christmas set, but they would be a nice present for someone's birhtday too.
I'm entering this little giftbox for the High Hopes Challenge.
This weeks theme is Flower Power. It isn't a card, but it has a High hopes stamp and flowers on it, so I think it suits this challenge.

It's Thursday again and that means another challenge on the Dutch Dare blog.

Food and Drinks
because I'm still very busy with my christmascards (I'm running out of time!!!!),
I made a christmas card using one of the cutest christmas images from Hangler.

A very short post today, have to supervise the kids from Britt her group while they are playing outside in 20 minutes.
25 kids running, screaming and doing everything they shouldn't do, HELP!!!
Well I'm getting reading for the battlefield.
Thanks for stopping by,

Magnolia vs Stampavie challenge

This weeks challenge on Magnolia vs Stampavie is to make gifttags.
We started decorating our christmas tree on Nomday, and on the bottom of the decorations boxes I found a few gorgeous angelwings ( we have so much decorating stuff I can't even remember when I used them the last time. Must have been a few years because I can't remember buying them (lol)).
I thought they would look very pretty on a few Magnolia's. But the stamps are to small for those pretty wings. But not giving up on this idea I blew them up on my xerox machine and now they have the perfect size.
On the back I've attached a label where you can write down a name.
And they serve another purpose: you can use them as hangers on your chritsmas tree after you've unwrapped your gift.
Funny how many christmas decoration items can be used for crafting.
Try to challenge yourself in making something with a christmas decoration ornament.
If you do so please leave me a comment on this post, I would love to see what you've created.

Thanks for stopping by,

xoxo Karin

Sketch # 10 on the x-mas and b-day cards blog

One December festivity is over ( Sinterklaas left for Spain again) and charging the batteries for the second one. The girls were having a great time last Friday on Sinterklaas evening. There were a lot of great presents and candy and our livingroom was completely covered with toys all weekend.
Now it's time to get rid of some old toys to make room for all the new ones. After we've done this we will start decorating for christmas this weekend. For a lot of you girls it's late, but we're glad we can relax for a few days.
Because it's was a crazy week(end) I only had time to make one card/project for this weeks sketch on the Just Christmas and Birthday Cards Challenge.
This weeks sketch is mad by Kristin and I wanted to make completely different. A few weeks back I bought 2 great big snowflakes for decorating the christmastree, but one of them ended up on this weeks project.
One of our DT-members, Mada is so sweet to donate this very sweet stamp for one lucky lady entering this weeks challenge. Normaly we only have a monthly prize, but because it's almost christmas she wanted to spoil someone.

Don't forget to come back later today to see who the 2 lucky ladies are of my blogcandy.

Thanks for stopping by,

xoxo Karin

Blogcandy in exchange for a nice RAK

This post will stay on top untill Dec. 7th
Scroll down for newer posts.
***
As many of you know I'm hosting 2 challengeblogs : the Dutch Dare Cards Challenge and the Just X-mas and B-day cards challenge.
On those blogs I'm working together with a bunch of wonderfull ladies (18 all together).
Every week they make the most beautifull DT-cards and they are doing this because they are having fun. They don't get payed or recieve scrapping supplies.
For a while now I'm thinking about a way to show them how much I appreciate what they are doing. But sending out 18 nice packages is even for my budget a bit to much.
So I got this really crazy idea, and mayby I'm asking to much of you.
*****
I'm putting up a candy and in exchange I'm asking you to send one of my DT-members a nice RAK-package. And for those who think this is to much, there's another candy.
*****
* spread the word about my candy on your blog and leave a comment on this post ( please add your emailaddress too)
If you've done this you are in for the first candy.
Your own name stamp from a Dutch Webshop called: Trendy Woelmuis
(the stamp shown is just an example. You can choose your own).
Candy closes on Dec. 7th, winner will be announced the day after.

* If you are spreading the word about my blogcandy on your blog and if you are willing to send one of my DT-member a nice RAK-Package you'll be in for the BIG CANDY.
The 3 Magnolia stamps shown on this post.
Leave a comment on this post telling me you want to send a nice RAK-package and mention your emailaddress if you want to enter this candy.
Candy closes on Dec. 7th. Winner will be announced the day after.

THERE'S A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY ENTERING MY CANDY (that's why I need your emailaddress).

This way I want to show my DT-members how much I'm appreciating what they are doing for the challenge blogs.
Have a nice weekend,
Hugs,
xoxo Karin

Fabulous Candy on the Pink Petticoat

Chris from the Pink Petticoat Webshop is giving away her brandnew MM Slice, just because she can't work with it. Wouldn't that be a great x-mas present. No more cutting things by hand (the scalloped circles on the giftbox and card are cut by hand!!).
To be in for the draw you had to make a card or project using things from the
Pink Petticoat Shop.
Ruby's teacher was celebrating her B-day last Wednesday at school.
She's a big tea drinker. Every morning she stands with a big Mug full of tea at the door shaking hands with all the kids.
So I made her a little giftbox filled with different flavoured teabags and a B-day card.
There was also a big happy coloured mug for her, but forgot to take a picture of the complete set.

Have to run now, making the last preparations for a big Sinterklaas party tonight.
Have a great weekend,
xoxo Karin

Dutch Dare Challenge # 26: Scalloped edges

Just one more day and night before the girls can finally relax. Tomorrow Sinterklaas is celebrating his birthday and all the kids in Holland will get lots and lots of presents.
3 Weeks of to much energy and excitemend about this upcoming festivity is almost to much for adults. They talk about it the whole day. And they are encouraged by all the songs they hear, programms they watch, festivitys in the neighbourhood etc.
Everybody in Holland with kids aren't able to think of christmas after this old man and helpers are leaving Holland on Saturday. And then all the excitement starts all over again. But now for christmas.
So to everybody that is reading my blog and leave all those sweet comments: I'm sorry I don't have to mych time for visiting your blogs the last few weeks. But you all know why now.
***
This weeks challenge on the Dutch Dare is to use scalloped edges somewhere on your card.
Easy one this week, and I wanted to use my nesties for the border around the cute Magnolia image, but they were to small. The bigger one are on it's way, but didn't arrive in time for this weeks challenge.

Card Details
Papers: Cardstock - Bazzill, DP- Daisy Bucket ( a gift from my sweet friend Nikki)
Stamps: Magnolia, Sentiment - Dovecraft
Technique: Pro-Markers
Embellishments: Flowers - Prima, ribbon and small metal flowers from stash.
Have a great day,
xoxo Karin

Sketch #9 at X-mas and B-day Cards Challenge

Monday already!!
And that means a new sketch over at Just Christmas and Birthday cards.
This weeks sketch is made by Amanda, and I had a lot of trouble with this one.
The lay-out leaves a lot of open space and I really had no idea how to fill this up.
I adjusted the measurements a bit to fill the cards, and this is as good as it gets.
The birthday card is for one of Ruby's friends who's celebrating her 6th birthday this Saturday.
Happy colours and some cute angels are just right for a little girl.

Last Thursday I was doing a little shopping at one of the scrapbookstores in the neighbourhood and I fell in love with this great stamp.
The text says: Joy, love, peace, happiness, goodwill and generosity towards men.
Laughter and kindness.
Hapy Hollidays, this is what it's all about.
Merry Christmas to you and all you love.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
xoxo Karin
